"Nita is a terrific asset to our community and we are fortunate to have such a dedicated person involved in our area. She has helped in our promotional endeavors and has contributed to networking the city, chamber, businesses, and individuals with the schools. She has coordinated events which have united students, parents, and other individuals
in a common bond;
educating our children."

- Adrienne Douke
Asst. Administrator

“From my point of view as a student, Nita Delk is one of the most hard-working teachers I have ever known. Her creativity in the classroom and enthusiasm for learning is unequalled.

I had a history of behavior problems and hating school. Nita offered a proposal when I nearly gave up. After working with her for one quarter, my reading and spelling levels went up extensively. The fact that I now read, and actually like it, isn't the main thing. The main thing is her determination. She succeeded where others had failed and she wouldn't give up on me when everyone else had. For that she has earned my respect and trust. Nita Delk is the greatest teacher
I have ever known.”

- Joel Williams
Alternative HS Graduate

Lanitta (Nita) Delk is a creative and energetic individual with multiple interest areas and a passion for the Arts. She has a high-interest commitment for serving the community and offering opportunities for others to grow in knowledge and increase their capacity. A true lifelong learner, Nita pursued her AS in Commercial Art, attained her BA in Communication Arts and completed her Master’s in Business Administration. She has earned many specialized certificates to enrich her understanding of the way people learn and behave and has completed many trainings including BodyBrain-Compatible Teaching and Learning, Personality Preferences, Multiple Intelligences, Conflict-Resolution, Management & Supervision, Psychology, Behavioral Intervention, Creative and Performing Arts, Athletics Coaching, the Lindamood-Bell Learning Processes, and Leadership Trainings. Nita is a knowledgeable instructor and curriculum writer, offering creative solutions to many of life’s challenges.

In the business world, Nita has been employed in supervisory positions since the age of 17. Working as production manager for a large printing company, graphic design firm, and a daily newspaper gave her a working knowledge of design and publication. She found time to freelance as an artist, copywriter, and graphic designer, until founding TypaGraphics in 1988 in Portland, Oregon as a home-based business offering custom design services to a metropolitan client base. After relocating to Washington State, the services expanded to a storefront on Main Street in a rural town. Services then included a copy/print center, book publication, business image development, corporate logo design, signs, silk screening, and a monthly publication in tabloid newspaper format known as The Community Review. Nita was privileged to receive several awards, including “Business of the Year” from the local Chamber of Commerce.

In the early 1980’s, Nita discovered the joy of teaching K-12 students. She was an instructor over a team of teachers and for a private school in Portland, Oregon as well as a substitute specializing in the Arts. Nita shifted her attention to homeschooling her own biological sons, as well as teaching with a large instructional co-op for providing education to other homeschool families. In the 1990’s, Nita was asked to teach adults through several professional development workshops. A talented musician, singer, fine artist, and writer, Nita enjoyed the opportunity to share her passion for Performing Arts with hundreds as she founded and became the Executive Director of a 501(c)3 non-profit organization. She has been a successful playwrite and songwriter, sharing her passions within the local communities. Using her certification in Adobe Software Applications, Nita accepted an offer to instruct classes in these high-end graphics programs to adult students at a local Community College. From 1999 to 2004, Nita was employed as an Alternative High School Instructor in multiple subject areas including Creative and Performing Arts, Web and Print Media, History, Language Arts, Home and Consumer Sciences, and Algebra, in addition to assisting with IEPs and offering remedial assistance to struggling learners. It was during this time that Nita sought to increase her knowledge of the human brain and discover optimal learning. In response to her innovative programs and enthusiasm for the individual learner, Nita was nominated for the Excellence in Education Award in 2004 from the local ESD representing her School District.

Nita is especially proud of her long-standing community involvement and working with youth. She has been a 4-H Community Club leader for nearly 20 years with OSU and WSU and has functioned as leaders’ president, fair manager, parade coordinator, and promotions and recruitment committee chair. Nita served as a resource leader for Boy Scouts of America, as well as created, organized, and promoted many large community events and has served as executive/facilitator for several Boards of Directors. Nita and her husband, Mike, have been licensed foster care providers, offering a positive infuence on the lives of many children during times of hardship, while helping them discover their unique talents and encouraging every child to follow their dreams. She enjoys spending creative time with friends and family in California, while offering encouragement to her third son as he pursues his performing arts degree and career in the entertainment industry in Hollywood.

The presentations by Nita Delk are grounded in research, offer innovative strategies, and provide real life experience examples, which are relevant for all walks of life. Nita enjoyes coordinating and traveling to national training events and is dedicated to the work of her current employer, The Center for Effective Learning and the founder’s goals for providing the best information taken from current research and offering practical strategies to increase human capacity and performance at work, at home, and at school.
