We build professional development and support for educators and schools in Highly Effective Teaching and Learning on the foundation of current brain research. Our work with nationally acclaimed Master Educators and other like-minded organizations provide a unique venue for helping schools to build capacity and sustain a high-quality educational system. Our team offers coaching and mentoring to teachers, schools, and districts in monitoring the effectiveness of staff development as measured by student outcomes and teacher satisfaction. We share exemplary professional development strategies that meet and exceed the Standards of Professional Development. Our services include:

• Training ongoing support of key personnel including administrators, academic coaches, team leaders, and classroom teachers in proven, successful theories and practices
• Forming professional learning communities around a "conceptual curriculum" – embedding the standards, implementing current brain research, driving instruction with assessment, integrating subject areas, and promoting career opportunities and responsible citizenship
• Coordinating efforts in customizing services and facilitating connections with local community
• Synthesizing information from current brain research and its impact on teaching and learning
• Offering ongoing support and networking through emails, ListServ participation,website recommendations, mentoring, and webinars

Model Teaching Week – our Signature Event!

Since 1980, The Center for Effective Learning has offered educators a unique professional experience known as Model Teaching Week (MTW). This has become our signature training event and is an innovative and effective means of providing the real-life opportunity for educators to observe a Master Educator teaching local students for one week in an on-site classroom setting. Participants are given a first-hand experience in a body-brain compatible environment and witness the effects of the Highly Effective Teaching Model in a multi-age setting with diversity of culture and socio-economic status. This phenomenal event is grounded in research-based instructional strategies, connected to a sensory-rich being there site, embedded with standards in conceptual curriculum effectively integrating subjects through an organizing concept, and framed by social/political action. Participants will spend part of each day observing the class(es). Some summers, as many as thirty-five of these trainings have been offered. A MTW can be scheduled by public, private, and parochial schools for a variety of grade levels, K-12.
