Richland School District Two - Columbia, SC

Excellence In Education
Richland School District Two, in partnership with the Columbia Northeast community, guarantees each student a quality education by providing appropriate and challenging learning experiences to equip each individual for lifelong learning, responsible citizenship, and productivity in an ever-changing world. After much research, the Highly Effective Teaching (HET) Model (formerly known as ITI: Integrated Thematic Instruction) was selected as several schools began Stage One of implementation. Professional development trainings from The Center for Effective Learning and ongoing coaching from Master HET Associates have provided a systemic approach to attaining Excellence in Education. Many schools are in various stages of Implementing the HET Model and the staff and students are thrilled to host the Spring Model Schools event known as the 2011 Schools Exceeding Expectations (SEE) Conference in Columbia, South Carolina - June 27-30, 2011.

Richland Two logoImplementing the Highly Effective Teaching (HET) Model was purposefully planned. Ongoing challenges included rezoning issues, socio-economic variances, budget constraints, military personnel influctuations, demographic diversities, behavior, and other typical educational obstacles. Reluctant parents were reassured by the inclusive team effort in establishing high expectations for quality teaching, learning, and behavior. After several years of implementing this BodyBrain-Compatible model, multiple schools have received honor and recognition for their efforts in providing Excellence in Education.
